Winter weather possible this weekend for Middle Tennessee

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) - Get ready for winter weather this weekend!

A Gulf storm will move slowly into Middle Tennessee this weekend, bringing lots of moisture.

It will start off Friday evening as rain but as temps drop, the precipitation could flip over to a wintry mix or even snow for some. This could create travel issue Saturday morning as some areas could even see minor accumulations. Check the latest weather advisories at wkrn.com/alerts.

However, the temps will warm up during the day so the precipitation should turn back over to just a cold rain and this will continue into Sunday. This means any snow would be washed away.

However, on the backside, Sunday afternoon into Monday afternoon temps will once again drop below 32 degrees leading to the changeover back to snow. The big question is when this does happen because that will impact snow totals. Check the latest list of school closings at wkrn.com/closings

Either way, areas along I-40 and north have a medium chance of seeing accumulating snow and areas south have a low chance. Keep an eye on the radar at wkrn.com/radar.

This will have an impact on the Monday morning rush as well as the ride home especially in areas that see the winter weather.
