Driver flees after wrong-way crash injures 5 on I-65

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) –A wrong-way driver fled the scene after causing a crash on Interstate 65 near 100 Oaks early Monday morning.  

The crash happened in the southbound lanes near the Armory Drive exit around 3:30 a.m.  

Metro police said the driver of a black car was traveling north in the southbound lanes when it hit a white sedan carrying five people.  

The victims, several of which are children, were taken to area hospitals for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.  

The driver jumped out of the car following the crash and ran from the scene.  

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-74-CRIME. 

The roadway reopened to traffic shortly before 7 a.m. 

No additional information was immediately released.
