Driver critically injured in crash on I-40 in Hermitage


A driver was critically injured in a crash on Interstate 40 in Hermitage Monday night.  

The crash happened in the eastbound lanes of I-40 near the Old Hickory Boulevard exit around 10:30 p.m. 

Metro police said the driver of a Volvo lost control and left the roadway, stopping against a tree.  

The driver and an occupant were taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment. The driver’s injuries are considered life-threatening and the Metro police fatal reconstruction team was called out to process the crash scene.  

No additional information was immediately released.
