Update: Roads blocked, closed across Middle Tennessee due to flooding

Water is receding tonight but many roads are still dangerous, especially in the dark. Local fire and police departments are recommending extreme caution if you are driving tonight as water on the road may be hard to see.

Here is a list of roads local responders were most concerned about Wednesday. You may want to call your local sheriffs department before driving through these areas.   

BEDFORD COUNTY

  • Lipscomb to Quarry
  • Peacock Road at Midland Road
  • McDale Lane
  • Anna & Michael Lane
  • Hight Street
  • Horse Mountain at the curve to Conova Jennings Lane

CANNON COUNTY

At Cannon 911 we have been notified and been in contact with the Cannon County Hwy Dept and TDOT in reference to the following roads and streets:

  • McFerrin St – Back Open
  • Meadowbrook Dr- Back Open
  • Greenbriar- Closed/Signs out
  • Wilmouth Creek @ 4300 Block- Closed
  • BullPen Creek Rd – Closed
  • River Rd- Closed
  • Bridge Rd. Auburntown- Closed
  • Big Hill Rd- Debris in the Roadway per CCHD/enroute to clean up
  • Doolittle Rd- Water Standing/CCHD notified
  • Sunny Slope- Water Standing/CCHD notified

DICKSON COUNTY 

  • Avoid underwater bridges this morning due to high water near Garner’s Creek, Coon Creek, Piney River and Yellow Creek.

FRANKLIN COUNTY

GILES COUNTY

  • SR-11 between Charley Davis Road and McRee Lane – CLOSED

No roads are currently closed, but local EMA encourages drivers to avoid certain areas where ponding could occur, including:

  • Budds Creek
  • Old Sango 
  • Rossview – Farmington/Port Royal
  • Parts of River Road
  • Highway 76/Broadway
  • Tiny Town Road/Greenspoint 

OVERTON COUNTY

  • SR-111 southbound at Celina Highway

RUTHERFORD COUNTY 

  • SR-266 between Mandy Road and SR10/US-231/Lebanon HIghway – CLOSED
  • Molloy Road, Armstrong Valley and Cherry Lane in Murfreesboro – CLOSED (through Wednesday night)
  • College Street – REOPENED (as of 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday)
  • Poplar Wood Road – CLOSED
    • NOTE: Drivers need to use Almaville Road to get to and from schools for dismissal this afternoon. Another alternate route is to take Morton Road to Red Hot Drive.
  • Stones River Slab – CLOSED
  • Buckeye Valley Road at Sulpher Springs Road
  • Christiana Fosterville Hwy – High water/passable 
  • County Farm/Elam Rd – High water/impassable 
  • Vaught/Cripple Creek – High water/impassable 
  • Kedron Church – High water/impassable 
  • Elam Slab -High water/impassable
