SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) - An 18-year-old teenager with a shotgun was wounded early Friday in an officer-involved shooting after a police chase in Sevier County.
Officers with the Pigeon Forge Police Department attempted to stop a vehicle around 4 a.m. for suspected DUI. The vehicle, driven by 18-year-old Johnathon A. Sellers, failed to stop and led officers on a chase into Gatlinburg before turning and driving back to Pigeon Forge, according to a release from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
As Sellers crossed into the Sevierville city limits, officers with the Sevierville Police Department deployed spike strips in the northbound lanes of the Parkway, disabling his vehicle, TBI said.
Sellers got out of his vehicle with a shotgun and three Pigeon Forge officers fired shots, TBI said.
Sellers was wounded and transported to an area hospital for treatment.
No law enforcement officers were injured during the incident.
TBI Special Agents and Forensic Scientists are doing interviews and gathering evidence. TBI’s investigative findings will be shared with the District Attorney General James Dunn throughout the process.
TBI did not identify the officers involved in the shooting.

A release from the city of Sevierville said the police department assisted the Pigeon Forge Police Department officer in stopping a fleeing motorist. SPD officers deployed spike striped on the Northbound lanes of the Parkway to disable the vehicle.
Sevierville authorities say the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer-involved shooting following the incident.
