Perry County H.S. football player killed in Friday night crash

A Perry County teenager was killed in a car accident Friday night, according to the Perry County Sheriff’s Office.  

Officers said the car was traveling west on Blue Creek Road when he left the road onto the right shoulder. The driver overcorrected and the car went off the road on the left shoulder, struck a tree, and overturned. 

According to Tennessee River Valley News, the teen was identified as 17-year-old Paige Peeler. 

Jay Hinson, the voice of the Perry County Vikings football team told TRVN that Peeler was set to be an anchor on the defensive line this year. 

According to a crash report, the teen was the only passenger in the truck not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
