The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Fairview Friday night.
Officials say 36-year-old Chase Sullivan was shot and killed by police Friday night.
The TBI report stated that police were called to the Legacy at Fairview apartment complex on Highway 100 around 8:30 p.m. where a resident reported there was a suicidal man.
Authorities tried to make contact with the man, identified as Sullivan, but he refused to open his door.
Police entered the apartment and said they found Sullivan inside with a knife.
After giving several commands for Sullivan to drop the weapon, police said the situation escalated and resulted in two officers firing their service weapons several times, striking Sullivan.
First responders administered CPR immediately, but Sullivan died on the scene.
