After a search that lasted for a few hours, emergency crews pulled the body of a drowning victim from Percy Priest Lake.

The Nashville Fire Department responded to the call a little after 8:15 p.m.

Responders from the police department and Office of Emergency Management were also involved in the search.

Family members on the scene confirmed the drowning victim as 19-year-old Corey Allen Polk Jr.

Witness Stanley Beasley is one of the people who jumped in after Polk to try to save him.

“I just jumped in. I don’t really know what he was trying to do. I was just trying to jump in to help save him,” said Beasley.

It is unclear how Polk ended up in the lake or how he drowned.
