Mariota named AFC Offensive Player of the Week

Tennessee Titans

After throwing for 344 yards, and upsetting the Super Bowl champs, Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota is the AFC’s Offensive Player of the Week.

It is the fourth time Mariota’s won the award.  That ties Steve McNair for second-most by a Titans quarterback. Warren Moon holds the franchise record, winning it six times for the then- Houston Oilers.

Mariota was spectacular Sunday leading the Titans from a 17-3 second-half deficit to push the game to overtime with a touchdown pass and a touchdown run.

In overtime, Mariota converted three fourth-down plays on the game-winning drive and hit Corey Davis for a 10-yard TD to complete the 11th game-winning drive of his career.

“Honestly, it’s really a credit to the guys. Without every single one of those guys on offense, that would not have been possible. It’s cool to have a team recognition, and hopefully, we can get a few more of those,” he said.

He has seven since 2017, which is more than any other quarterback in the NFL.
