The Nashville Predators will not start the 2018 season with forward Eeli Tolvanen on the roster.
Wednesday the Preds sent their 2017 first round pick to Milwaukee of the American Hockey League. They also released defenseman Brian Cooper from his tryout agreement with the intention of sending him to Milwaukee.
Last year Tolvanen had a huge year playing in the KHL and joined the Predators roster for their playoff push.
He only played in three games and struggled to adjust to the smaller ice sheet and more physical style of the NHL.
Still, the 19-year old goal scorer has tremendous upside and sending him to Milwaukee will allow him to play on a higher line and play much heavier minutes.
The Preds open the season next Thursday at the New York Rangers.
