The Lipscomb Bisons are on to round two of the NIT after winning at Davidson 89-81 Tuesday night.
Kenny Cooper gave the Bisons a 69-68 second-half lead with just 8 minutes to play after taking a steal coast to coast for two of his eight points.
It was Michael Buckland who came up huge from three-point range to hand Lipscomb the victory. They were tied at 71-71 when Buckland hit his third three of the game and then he struck again with less than three minutes to play to give Lipscomb an 82-76 advantage.
Buckland hit 4 of 6 from three-point range and led the Bisons with 18 points. Lipscomb as a team shot the ball extremely well hitting 11 of 21 from three-point range and 53 percent from the field overall.
Rob Marberry had 17 and Garrison Matthews 14 for the victorious Bisons.
Lipscomb advances to play UNC-Greensboro in round 2.
