Multiple reports state Vanderbilt is in talks with Jerry Stackhouse about becoming the Commodores next head basketball coach.

The Memphis Grizzlies assistant has never coached in college but he was the NBA’s G-League Coach of the Year in 2016-2017 with the Toronto Raptors team.   New Vanderbilt A-D Malcolm Turner was the President of the G-League and even presented Stackhouse with the Coach of the Year trophy.

Stackhouse was a star player at North Carolina and was the 3rd pick of the NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers in 1995.  He played 18 seasons in the NBA and went to two All-Star games.

The Commodores are looking to replace Bryce Drew who was fired after going 40-59 in 3 seasons including an 0-18 mark in the SEC last season.
