School is just around the corner. This weekend many families will take advantage of Tennessee’s tax-free holiday to shop for back-to-school clothing.

Before you buy, check out the dress codes.  News 2 has you covered with a list of school rules throughout Middle Tennessee and Kentucky.

Dress codes vary from school district to school district, but they all share certain themes:

  • No clothing related to drugs, alcohol or tobacco
  • Specific gang symbols aren’t allowed
  • Pants, skirts, and shorts shouldn’t sag and must be mid-thigh length
  • Torn or see-through clothes aren’t allowed
  • Facial piercings are also generally prohibited, as well as nonreligious head-wear.
