Zoo will let you name a cockroach after your ex, then feed it to a meerkat

For those in love, Valentine’s Day is a time to share flowers and chocolates and plenty of “I love yous.”

But if you find yourself single and heartbroken come Feb. 14, you may not be in such a celebratory mood.

Fortunately, a Texas zoo is offering singletons a way to celebrate Valentine’s Day this year by letting them name a cockroach after their ex. The bug will be fed to a meerkat on Feb. 14.

“What’s the perfect Valentine’s Day gift? ❤️ Naming a cockroach after your ex, of course! Message us your ex’s name and we’ll name a cockroach after them!” the El Paso Zoo said in a post on Facebook.

To submit your ex’s name, send a message to the zoo on Facebook. The zoo says it will post names (first and last name initial) on Facebook starting on Feb. 11. Then on Valentine’s Day, you can watch their website’s Meerkat webcam to see them devour the little bugs. The live stream will begin at 2:15 p.m. and will also be broadcast on Facebook.
