Dozens of people in Middle Tennessee took time out today to honor America’s veterans.

They took part in a nationwide event called “Wreaths Across America”

Special ceremonies were held at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Nashville.

Volunteers helped lay more than 9,000 remembrance wreaths on the graves of America’s fallen heroes.

In Dickson County, nearly 270 wreaths were laid at Union Cemetery, where more than 100 people gathered for a short ceremony. Cub scouts helped place the wreaths on soldier graves.

Close to 400 people turned out at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Clarksville, where 1,800 veterans are buried.  Veterans, local veterans groups and volunteers placed wreaths on their graves, according to Clarksvillenow. com.

Similar ceremonies were held at the 101st Airborne Division Headquarters at Fort Campbell, and Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.
