HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A woman was carjacked and robbed at gunpoint right outside her Hendersonville apartment Tuesday night.
Crystal Yahnke said it happened around 11 p.m. as she arrived home at Walton Place Apartments on Walton Ferry Road.
“My husband was right there and I couldn’t get to him,” said Yahnke. “I never thought it could happen to me. Not here.”
Yahnke said she heard a car rush in behind her, and that’s when she was confronted by two men with pistols who demanded her purse and car keys.
“They’re like, ‘Give me your keys,’ and all I could say was, ‘What? Are you serious? You want my keys?’”
The two men drove off in Yahnke’s car.
She described the carjackers as two black men in baggy clothes who appeared to be 19 or 20 years old.
“I do know that one guy had a silver .22 and the other one had a black .22. They were identical guns other than the colors,” Yahnke said. “As young as they are, I hope whatever they did to me was worth it because they just threw their entire lives down the damn drain.”
Hendersonville police said Wednesday around noon Yahnke’s 2014 Volkswagen Passat was recovered at J.C. Napier Homes, an apartment complex off Lafayette Street.
Officers said the car is in “good condition”.
