A woman has been charged in connection with a crash Monday night in South Nashville that injured three people including a six-year-old child.

Metro police said Tracy Lara was driving on Paragon Mills Road when she claimed she slightly swerved into the opposite lane of traffic and struck another vehicle.

The other vehicle left the scene.

Lara was injured in the crash along with two of her passengers, including her six-year-old daughter and a 35-year-old passenger who suffered critical injuries, police said.

All three were transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment.

Police said Lara admitted to using narcotics and she refused a blood test.

Lara was charged Tuesday with vehicular assault.
