WESTMORELAND, Tenn. (WKRN) – A 65-year-old was injured after being mauled by her dog.
Westmoreland police responded to the call on Locust Street around 2 p.m. Friday afternoon.
Officers said that Margie Ann Murphy was feeding her American Bull Mastiff in the backyard when she was mauled by the animal. The woman’s daughter was able to call for help.
Investigators said that the Mastiff is up to date on all of it’s shot and the family has had him for two years.
Police said that Murphy slipped on ice, startling the dog and sending it into defense mode. Murphy was airlifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with extensive face and head injuries.
