Jeff Patterson is near the Cape Fear River in Wilmington North Carolina, getting buffeted by the outer bands of Hurricane Florence.
He’s seeing strong wind gusts, bands of rain, some trees going down.
Florence is moving very slowly, about 5 m.p.h. The size of the storm has grown, but it’s now a Category 1 Hurricane.
It is still a very dangerous hurricane. The main risk is storm surge and flooding.
Storm surge is hard to predict. There are many variables such as what time it hits and when high tide takes place.
That’s why emergency managers have told millions of people to evacuate.
The hurricane is expected to come ashore early Monday morning. WKRN.com and Good Morning Nashville will have live coverage as Florence hits the coast
