Weather may be to blame for dozens of injured birds in Middle Tennessee

Animal rescuers across Middle Tennessee are seeing dozens of injured birds and the weather may be to blame.

Loons are migrating over Tennessee right now. They land on water when they need to rest and they need to be on the water to take off.

Rescuers said they have been confused by the wet and icy pavement because it looks like water and they get hurt when they try to land.

Walden’s Puddle, a wildlife rehabilitation and education center, has taken in dozens of injured loons in just the past two days.

Anyone who finds a loon is advised to contain it and call Walden’s Puddle at 615-299-9938
