Wanted Sumner County man taken into custody


A man wanted for assaulting a Sumner County sheriff’s deputy has been captured. 

Dustin Andrews, 25, is charged with evading, resisting arrest and assaulting an officer. 

According to police, officers received a tip Thursday afernoon that a wanted person would be arriving at a parking lot in the Oak Grove community. Moments later, deputies encountered 25-year-old Dustin Andrews. 

Officials say that as Andrews was being arrested, he hit the deputy and a physical fight ensued. He was able to escape the deputy and ran away. 

He was taken into custody around midnight. His bond was set at $50,000. 

According to officials, Andrews has warrants out of Macon County for theft and a violation of the sex offender registry. He also has a warrant out of Montgomery County for violating probation. The original charge in that county was attempted aggravated sexual battery.
