Customers and employees have been allowed back into Walmart on Charlotte Pike following an evacuation Tuesday morning prompted by a natural gas leak.

Nashville Fire Department responded around 8:30 a.m. to the store near River Road for a report of “an unknown airborne substance” which turned out to be a gas leak.

At least ten people complained of headaches and one person was transported from the scene, the fire department said.

The department’s new “Ambubus,” designed to respond to mass casualty incidents without depleting the pool of available ambulances, was utilized.

Crews with Piedmont Natural Gas located the source of the leak.

The fire department reported around 11:15 a.m. that the air quality in the store was “safe” and people were allowed back inside.
