‘Voice of the Auburn Tigers’ Rod Bramblett, wife Paula killed in a car accident

Rod Bramblett, the Voice of the Auburn Tigers, and his wife, Paula, were involved in a serious car accident early Saturday evening in Auburn. That’s according to a statement sent out by Auburn Athletics.

According to the Opelika-Auburn News, Paula was killed in the two-vehicle accident on Shug Jordan Parkway at West Samford Avenue. They report that Paula was pronounced dead at the scene and Rod was airlifted with life-threatening injuries. He died later at the hospital. 

Bramblett has been the lead broadcaster for the Tigers since 2003.

According to our sister station, WRBL, one person has died and two others were injured in the crash that happened just after 6 p.m. near Shug Jordan Pkwy and W Samford Ave.

The report states that a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee struck the rear of a 2017 Toyota Highlander.  A 53-year-old male and a 52-year-old female, both occupants of the Highlander, were transported to EAMC by ambulance with serious injuries. 

The 16-year-old male driver of the Jeep Grand Cherokee was transported to EAMC by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries. 

One fatality has been confirmed but names will not be released until family notifications are made.  The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Auburn Police Division.
