Thousands lose power Thursday due to strong early morning winds

Strong winds Thursday morning led to widespread power outages.

Windy conditions scattered trash cans and knocked down trees in several Nashville neighborhoods.

News 2 crews found a downed tree blocking the roadway near 26th Avenue North and Clifton Avenue.

Emergency dispatchers say the bulk of their weather-related calls were centered in West Nashville, largely due to downed trees and power lines.

Several power outages were also reported in East Nashville.

At one point Thursday morning, more than 1,150 Nashville Electric customers were without power. Click here for current numbers from the NES Power Outage map.
