Photographer captures people dangerously close to Cades Cove bears

CADES COVE, Tenn. (WATE)  A photographer captured people walking dangerously close to bears on Sunday and Monday in Cades Cove.

Jackie Gilbert, the owner of Jackie Gilbert Photography, said she was trying to photograph the bears with a telephoto lens when people kept getting in the way.

In the photos, people can be seen taking selfies with the bears and walking between them.

The National Park Service warns that bears and dangerous and unpredictable and advises people never to approach bears, or allow bears to them. 

Willfully approaching within 150 feet of a bear is illegal in the park is a violation of federal regulations and can result in fines and arrest.
