The Blount County Sheriff’s Office have arrested a Louisville man on several counts of aggravated assault and kidnapping.

Blount County Sheriff James Lee Berrong confirmed that investigators arrested Edward Morgan on Friday after he held a woman captive and repeatedly beat her.

The Sheriff’s office began their investigation Friday morning after deputies and investigators were called to an emergency room at a local hospital where a woman was brought in who had been severely beaten. Her injuries included a black eye, multiple cigarette burns on her body, and several cut and stab wounds on both her arms and legs. The victim also said Morgan choked her and held her head underwater.
