Diane Black throws support behind Bill Lee after GOP governor primary loss

Tennessee News

A 20-year political career at both the state and federal level will be coming to an end for Congressional member Diane Black after she finished behind Bill Lee in the Republican Primary for Tennessee’s governor’s race.

Black told a crowd of disappointed supporters at Vanderbilt Loews Plaza Hotel that “sometimes God has a different course than the one you set for yourself.”

Black called Lee a “good principled man and he has my full support,” but the biggest applause came when she said, “no regrets.”

Using a horse racing analogy, a Black campaign consultant said about the Randy Boyd campaign “we killed each other, and Bill Lee went up the rail.”
