Giles County police need help identifying a gunman who shot a man in a strip club parking lot.
It happened around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 28 at the Watering Hole Lounge at exit 22 on I-65 in Giles County.
“It’s difficult, it’s obvious mass chaos there,” said Lt. Shane Hunter with the Giles County Sheriff’s Office.
Multiple cameras inside the club revealed a chaotic, violent scene. Fights erupted inside and out in the parking lot.
Lt. Hunter says the motive for the violence is not clear, but it appears that the gunman touched an entertainer and that entertainer was dating the victim. There’s a lot of confusion in the video.
But the man identified as the shooter is seen many times in the surveillance footage. In one video you can see he’s flashing a 380 semi-automatic pistol as he walks through the club.
“We have info that he is in the general middle Tennessee area,” said Lt. Hunter.
Moments before the shooting, things heated up outside where you can see one patron who is sucker punched. Around the same time, the man investigators identified as the shooter stepped out of the darkness and cold-cocked another man.
Then the man detectives called the shooting victim took off his shirt and got involved.
Moments later, things boiled over as the alleged shooter is attacked and the man identified as the shooting victim joins the fray.
The brawl spills to the top of the parking lot, where you can see a muzzle flash.
Detectives say that is the gun being fired one time. The 43-year-old victim was shot in the forearm.
He stumbled back to the doorway while the alleged shooter appeared to be looking for something in the darkness nearby. The victim’s wounds were not life-threatening.
Neither the witnesses nor the victim is cooperating in the investigation.
“It tells me there is a lot more to the story than is on the camera,” said Lt. Hunter.
If you have any information or know the identity of the alleged shooter, contact the Giles County Sheriff’s Department.
