4-year-old dies from injuries suffered in Chattanooga tornado

Tennessee News

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WATE/WKRN) — Four-year-old Grayson Meadows passed away from injuries he suffered when an EF-3 tornado hit his home in Hamilton County over the weekend, according to the Chattanooga Fire Department.

Grayson and his father Mikey were both inside the residence in East Brainerd when it was hit. The two were transported to an area hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries.

The Chattanooga Fire Department said Wednesday afternoon that Grayson had passed away. He is the third death reported in Chattanooga from Sunday night’s tornado.

A family friend created a GoFundMe to help cover the cost of their medical bills and other needs. In less than a day, the GoFundMe page exceeded its original goal of $5,000 and a second goal of $50,000. The initiative’s goal has now been set at $100,000.

Mikey is moving his body a little bit here and there, but only on his left side. He isn’t understanding any speech right now either but it’s still really early. The doctors said he might need facial reconstructive surgery as well.

So please just continue to support them through this traumatic time. They are fighting for their lives due to this tornado. Please continue to keep them in your thoughts and hearts”
