MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WKRN) — Mt. Juliet police are searching for a suspect after a rifle and two handguns were stolen during a business burglary early Thursday morning.

Officers responded around 3:15 a.m. to a break-in at MotorCars of Nashville on Athens Drive.

The owner told police he was watching live video on his phone that showed a man in a hooded sweatshirt burglarizing his business after using a rock to get inside.

Police said the burglar stole a Dodge Charger from the MotorCars of Nashville and sped off, as officers arrived. Officers used spike strips to flatten all four tires on the getaway car, leaving it disabled along Legacy Park Road.

The burglar ran off between homes and hopped a fence, according to investigators.

Police described him as a thin, Black male wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with a red stripe and black pants.

The stolen rifle has since been recovered, officers said.

Additional patrols will be in the area throughout the day Thursday in an attempt to locate the suspect.

Police said a man matching the same suspect description burglarized five businesses over the past few months, including the Subway in Providence Marketplace, a nail salon south of Interstate 40, Prost & Riot Beer Haus, a Tennessee Quick Cash and a Dunkin Donuts.

All five burglaries happened between 1 and 4 a.m. and involved a rock used to gain entry.

The suspect is believed to be armed and dangerous, so anyone who spots him is urged to call 911 immediately.
