The 18-year-old suspect involved in a car chase with a Sumner Co. deputy on Friday, which that ended in a crash with an uninvolved driver, is also facing murder charges in Nashville, a representative for the suspect confirmed with News 2.

According to Chief Deputy Aaron Pickard, the crash happened on Big Station Camp Road at Vietnam Veterans Parkway on Friday morning around 10:30 a.m.

Pickard said deputies were chasing a suspect that refused to stop. The crash happened just after deputies decided to suspend the chase.

Another driver unrelated to the pursuit ended up rear-ending the deputy’s cruiser, but officials said no one was injured in the crash.

The suspect, 18-year-old Oshae Stewart, was arrested after the crash.

Stewart is one of two suspects charged with criminal homicide in the July 2018 murder of a 16-year-old outside a home on Westchester Drive.

Police say Stewart shot from the vehicle as the victim approached the car. Both suspects surrendered to police the day after the shooting but refused to answer any questions from Metro detectives.

Officials said Stewart is expected to appear at a preliminary hearing in Davidson Co. on March 18.
