Supreme Court refuses to stop execution of death row inmate Don Johnson

News

The U.S. Supreme Court is refusing to hear a case challenging Tennessee’s lethal injection protocol.

The appeal filed by Tennessee death row inmates claims the drugs cause “excruciating pain.”

The high court’s rejection clears the way for Thursday night’s execution of inmate Don Johnson who killed his wife in Memphis more than 30 years ago.

Johnson is scheduled for execution at Riverbend Maximum Security Institution in Nashville.

He has appealed to Governor Lee for clemency.
