Smyrna police are searching for a murder suspect and his getaway driver.

Friday night, Smyrna Police responded to a shooting at the Uptown Suites on President Place.

On the scene, they found a man with a gunshot wound to his chest. That victim was taken to TriStar StoneCrest Medical Center where he later died.

The suspects had left the scene before police got there.

Witnesses told police that a man, later identified as 35-year-old Donavous Drennon, was mistreating a dog and when the victim objected he was shot.

Police say a criminal homicide warrant has been issued for Drennon.

Smyrna police are also looking for the black male driver of a newer model White Chevy Impala who appeared to know Drennon and drove him from the scene.

Neither suspect is in custody at this time and should be considered armed and dangerous, said police.

If you know the location of either suspect, you are asked to contact your local law enforcement agency, Smyrna Detective Steve Martin at (615) 267-5432 or by email at steve.martin@townofsmyrna.org
