A woman accused of leaving animals in a Henry County home for several days with no food or water has been arrested.

Jennifer Blackard, 40, was taken into custody Monday at the Henry County Courthouse on charges of animal cruelty.

According to an arrest affidavit, Blackard’s landlord called the Henry County Sheriff’s Office on January 24 and reported that he was winterizing the home on Highway 641 North when he heard a dog barking inside and knew Blackard had not been home in days.

Once inside the home, deputies said they found a dog that had been locked in the bathroom for days with no food or water.

There were also cats in the home with no food or water, investigators said.

Blackard, a Fulton, Ky. woman, was tracked down Monday following a month-long search and lodged in the Henry County jail.
