NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Thousands of retirees are fighting to keep their pensions from being slashed.

On Saturday members of the Protect Our Pensions movement gathered retired union members to explain why some are seeing their pensions cut by 50 to 70 percent.

According to teamsters, legislation was passed as part of last year’s omnibus bill that cut pension benefits to retired teamsters.

Some of them are already struggling to make ends meet.

“People get on there literally crying. I have got to make a choice between my medicine and my rent so yes it will have a devastating impact on 440,000 people,” said retired teamster Jerry Seaborn.

The retired teamsters plan to rally in Washington on April 14.

They are pushing Congress to pass a law that will keep their pensions from being cut.
