NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A man was arrested on his fifth driving under the influence charge in south Nashville on Saturday.

According to an affidavit, Matthew Smith was pulled over on Nolensville Pike for traveling 60 miles per hour in a 40 mile per hour zone.

Smith, 31, smelled of alcohol, had bloodshot eyes and was unsteady on his feet, the report stated.

He reportedly showed signs of impairment during field sobriety tests and refused to have a blood test.

He was taken into custody and charged with DUI, violation of the implied consent law, and a habitual offender violation.

Smith has four previous DUI convictions in Davidson County dating back to 2006 and convictions for aggravated burglary and robbery.

His bond was set at $37,500.
