Texting scandal raises questions about culture at State Capitol

Politics

In the wake of the scandal surrounding racist and sexist text messages between House Speaker Glen Casada and his former Chief of Staff, News 2 talked to the chairman of the Legislative Black Caucus, G.A. Hardaway D- Memphis.

Hardaway believes a culture of racism exists in the Tennessee State Legislature.

The Caucus is calling for a Department of Justice investigation into Casada’s office.

Hardaway says the people of Tennessee have gone through enough chaos and it’s time for the House to rebuild trust and integrity.

He says Governor Bill Lee should call a special session and if he does not, lawmakers should do it.
