Voters to decide future of Amendment 1

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) - - One of the big issues on the ballot in Nashville tonight is Amendment 1, a measure that would create a community oversight board.

The board would investigate claims of police misconduct, arrests and other issues involving Metro Police.

Mayor David Briley has said that he is in favor of police oversight, but has also said that he does not agree with the language of this specific referendum.

He says if voters approve it, he will implement it right away.

If it’s voted down, Briley has said that he will create an oversight panel by executive order.

The mayor says he is leaving this issue in the hands of voters.
