Metro police have identified a woman who was killed in a head-on collision Saturday night.

Emergency crews responded to call around 9:50 p.m. Saturday on Old Hickory Blvd. Near 28th Street.

According to police, the driver of a 2009 Cadillac Escalade, identified as 27-year-old Catherine Pinhal, crossed over into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with 57-year-old Gilda York while she was driving her 2007 Honda Element.

Officers confirmed that York died at the scene.

Pinhal was transported to Skyline Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Police said she admitted to drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana earlier in the day.

She also agreed to have a blood sample drawn.

Police are awaiting a toxicology report to determine if Pinhal was impaired before charges are filed.
