NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The man accused of crashing his car into a Nashville ambulance Tuesday afternoon in South Nashville was drunk at the time, a Metro police report alleges.

Cameron Cathey, 36, was booked Tuesday night into the Metro jail on charges including DUI, driving on the revoked license and implied consent.

According to an arrest affidavit, Metro police responded around 4 p.m. to a man passed out at the wheel in the middle of traffic on Old Hickory Boulevard at Nolensville Pike.

The paperwork states officers approached the vehicle and began to bang on the glass in an attempt to wake the driver, who had an empty bottle of Extra Dry Gin beside him.

When Cathey woke up, police said he let his foot off the brake and his vehicle rolled forward striking a Nashville Fire Department ambulance, causing minor damage.

Field sobriety tests were performed and Cathey was arrested.

He was arrested and held in the Metro jail on a $7,500 bond.
