A man was stabbed during a robbery just south of downtown Nashville early Wednesday morning.
It happened at Lafayette Street near Interstate 40 around 12:30 a.m.
Metro police reported the victim said he was walking when he was approached by a man who asked for a cigarette.
The man then pulled out a knife and robbed the victim of his personal belongings, according to Metro police.
Metro police said a second suspect then grabbed the victim from behind and they began to struggle.
The victim was cut on his hand before the suspects ran away. He was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment. His condition was not immediately released.
Officers were unable to locate a crime scene.
