Pedestrian hit, killed by train in Hendersonville

A pedestrian was hit and killed by a train in Hendersonville Thursday afternoon.  

It happened around 3:50 p.m. on the tracks near Rockland Road and Imperial Boulevard.  

Police said the victim was walking along the tracks when he was struck. He was later identified by Hendersonville police as 54-year-old Daniel Kelm, of Hendersonville. 

Helm was pronounced dead at the scene. 

CSX released a statement to News 2 Thursday evening that said in part, “CSX appreciates the prompt response provided by local officials and we extend our thoughts to everyone impacted by this tragic accident.”  

The investigation is ongoing.
