Former President Jimmy Carter is recovering from surgery after breaking his hip in a fall Monday morning, The Associated Press and The Washington Post reported.
The Carter Center said in a statement that Carter, who is 94, was leaving his home to go turkey hunting, the Post said.
The surgery, performed at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, Ga., was successful.
“President Carter said his main concern is that turkey season ends this week, and he has not reached his limit,” the Carter Center said in its statement according to the Post. “He hopes the State of Georgia will allow him to rollover the unused limit to next year.”
