NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – More than $850,000 was raised during a breast cancer walk in Nashville Saturday.

Close to 30,000 people showed up at Nissan Stadium to take part in the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk.

“Our October 22nd event was a moving example of passion in action,” said Debbie Thomas, senior community manager.

She continued, “Our Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk ensures no one faces breast cancer alone by bringing the community together, funding innovative breast cancer research, promoting education and risk reduction and providing comprehensive patient support to those who need it most.”

According to the American Cancer Society Cancer Facts & Figures 2016, an estimated 246,660 women in the US will be diagnosed with breast cancer. Another 40,450 will die from the disease this year.
