WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) – Authorities are trying to figure out how a fire started on the side of a road in Williamson County and then spread to burn nearly an acre of property.

The sheriff’s office said it happened off Pulltight Hill Road in College Grove on Tuesday.

A good Samaritan spotted the fire around 9 p.m. while driving near the overlook and notified a nearby property owner that a field near his home was on fire.

Firefighters responded to the scene and the fire was quickly handled.

“The good Samaritan’s actions not only prevented a major brush fire from developing, but saved homes in the area that were in the brush fire’s path,” the sheriff’s office said.

Authorities say they’d like for the good Samaritan to come forward so they can ask him what he saw.

If anyone has any information or saw anything suspicious relating to the fire on Pulltight Hill Road this week, call Detective Scott Keen at 615-790-5554 ext. 3226 or you can remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 615-794-4000. You may be eligible for a reward up to $1,000.
