MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) – A dog that was found on the side of the road with a major leg injury has made a recovery, and will soon be up for adoption.

Murfreesboro resident Brittney Babbitt reportedly recently found a coonhound walking down John Bragg Highway. Babbitt pulled over, and when the dog went to hop in her car, she realized the dog’s left hind leg was mangled.

Babbitt called around to several veterinarians, but most wanted to put the dog to sleep. She eventually took the dog to Animal Medical Center.

The dog got her name – Hope – after the vet tech who was helping them.

Hope’s leg was amputated up to the hip bone. Her recovery has been better than expected.

After Hope heals, she’ll be put up for adoption. Anyone interested in adopting Hope can visit

A GoFundMe account has been set up to assist with Hope’s recovery.
