Mother jailed after children found wandering North Nashville streets

A woman was arrested after several of her children were reportedly found wandering the streets of North Nashville.

Megan Moreno, 32, was charged Wednesday morning with several counts of child neglect.

According to an arrest affidavit, Metro police received a call Tuesday of an eight-year-old child wandering the street alone on Rosa L. Parks Boulevard near Interstate 65.

Officers were able to locate the child and said she could not provide her mother’s name or whereabouts.

She gave police an address for a relative on Ponder Place.

When officers arrived, they said a 12-year-old and two-year-old were inside and claimed they were left alone regularly.

Police said the residence was covered in food, trash and clothing and was in “total disarray.”

The children alerted officers that an 11-year-old with autism had also wandered off.

The child was located about a half-mile away at a hotel on Rosa L. Parks Boulevard.

The incident is under investigation by Metro police and the Department of Children’s Services.
