NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A mom was arrested in Antioch late Sunday night for driving under the influence with three kids in the car.
According to an arrest warrant, Janet Grace left the scene of two separate hit-and-run accidents, but witnesses followed her to a parking lot off Old Hickory Boulevard where police arrived.
One of the children in the car addressed the officer as he approached and said, “Please do not let my mom drive anymore, she has had accidents and cannot stay awake and I am afraid,” the report stated.
The officer noticed a strong odor of alcohol and when asked how much she had to drink, Grace, 45, reportedly said, “an enormous amount.”
Bottles of Fireball Whisky and Jamison Whiskey were found in the vehicle and the report stated she admittedly consumed them.
The three children who were in the car at the time are 8, 6 and 2 years old.
Grace was unable to perform field sobriety tasks because she couldn’t stay awake so officers called the children’s father and The Department of Children’s Services.
It was unclear from the affidavit if the father was given custody of the children, but Grace was arrested and booked into jail.
She was charged with driving under the influence with a child and two counts of leaving the scene of an accident.
She was released later that night on a $20,000 bond.
