A majority of the arrests happening in and around the NFL Draft have been disorderly conduct or public intoxication charges, according to Metro Nashville Police Chief Steve Anderson.
“It’s been very smooth,” said Chief Anderson. “I’ve been telling the officers the crowd keys off of them. When you have calm officers that are outgoing and friendly and accommodating the crowd follows along.”
There have only been about a dozen arrests since Thursday related to the NFL Draft, and most of the arrests are for misdemeanor citations.
Friday, Metro police arrested a man, accused of inappropriately touching a 15-year-old girl on the thigh.
Fabio Huerfano is charged with assault.
According to his arrest affidavit, officers found the suspect after the victim and her father pointed Huerfano out in the crowd at the NFL Draft.
Police say Huerfano told officers “I did not know she was 15, I thought she was 30. I am so sorry.”
Officers say he appeared intoxicated and admitted to smoking marijuana and drinking 6-7 beers.
Metro police also arrested Antwaun Easley after they say he handed a weapon to an officer within the secure zone at the NFL Draft and said he wanted to go to jail.
Easley is charged with an imitation firearm offense.
Officers inspected the weapon, first believed to be a gun, and realized it was an air pistol. Easley had a black tactical bag and after searching it, officers say they found a small bag of marijuana and a crack pipe.
The most notable arrest Friday night was that of Houston Texans tight end Ryan Griffin. He is charged with public intoxication and vandalism after allegedly punching his fist through a hotel window.
Earlier in the week, there were a few notable arrests at the NFL Draft previously reported by News 2.
James Patrick Johnson, 33, was arrested and charged with public intoxication on Thursday after he allegedly tried to climb over a fence in the secure area of the Draft.
