Middle Tennessee cheer squads head to Nationals

Hundreds of cheerleaders from all over Middle Tennessee gathered at Nashville International Airport Wednesday morning with hopes of returning next week as champions.

The high school cheerleaders are heading to the UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship in Orlando, Florida.

The competition is by invite only and for Stewarts Creek this is the 6th time they will be going.

Last year the team placed 5th.

“We have been doing this since May we practice mornings, afternoons, pretty much every single day throughout the year. We put a lot of time and effort into preparing for this,” said cheerleader Caroline Sweeney.

“We are really excited we are really prepared so we have done a lot of performances in front of crowds we are excited.”

A lot of squads spent months fundraising to attend the championship.
